Verna M. Goldsborough, 94, of Macomb and formerly of Rushville, passed away peacefully at 8:33 pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at The Elms of Macomb.
She was born on August 6, 1932, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Walter & Gladys (Dare) France. Verna was a graduate of Beardstown High School with the class of 1949. Following school, she married Junior E. Goldsborough on December 31, 1950, in Fulton County and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2007.
Verna was a member of the Hope Free Methodist Church of Rushville where she played the organ for several years. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping and traveling. One of her favorite places to visit was Estes Park, Colorado. She enjoyed reading her Bible and would look forward to reading her daily scriptures. Verna was a terrific cook, and her family enjoyed her meals throughout the years.
She is survived by her sons; Gail (Pat) Goldsborough of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Carl (Cathy) Goldsborough of Cincinnatti, Ohio and Paul (Sally) Goldsborough of Fenton, Missouri, six grandchildren; Scott, Melissa, Clint, Clay, Connor & Lily, four great grandchildren, a sister; Ruth Hollis of Macomb and by several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Verna was preceded in death by a daughter; Bonnie Burns and by a sister; Patricia Lynch.
Funeral services honoring Verna’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville. Pastor Rob Kirkham will preside. Interment will follow at the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
