Joyce Robertson

Joyce Robertson, 89, of Browning, passed away at 3:29 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Beardstown Nursing Home in Beardstown.

She was born on July 27, 1935, in Browning, the daughter of the late Kenneth & Leoma (Dresher) Robertson. Joyce was an independent person and raised hogs & cattle for most of her working life. She was working up until her health began to decline.

Joyce loved nature and enjoyed being outdoors. Tending to her flower gardens was one of her favorite activities; along with making sure the weeds were pulled. She was an avid bird watcher and she did bird counting for the Audubon Society. In Joyce’s younger days, she played softball with the Rushville Rushettes. The all-girls’ softball team was managed by both of her brothers; Lester & Lyle. She was a member of the Browning Church of Christ for many years.

She is survived by a sister; Judy Smart of rural Browning, a niece; Ellen (Kelly) Cassiday of Chatham, nephews; Mark (Vicki) Robertson of Keosauqua, Iowa, Bryce (Kathy) Robertson of Payson, Kevin (Melinda) Robertson of Rushville and by Eric (Melinda) Smart of rural Browning. Besides Joyce’s parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Lester & Lyle Robertson and by a sister in-law; Jo Ann Robertson.

Funeral services honoring Joyce’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville. Pastor John Ruppel will preside. Interment will follow at the Ridgeville Cemetery in rural Browning. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of services on Thursday. Memorial contributions in memory of Joyce are suggested to the Browning Church of Christ, Ridgeville Cemetery or to the Browning Senior Center.
