Joe Simpson

Joe F. Simpson, 84, of Rushville, Illinois, passed away at 8:45 p.m., on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in his home surrounded by family.  He was born on July 25, 1939, in Rushville, Illinois, a son of Clifford D. and Mary (Briggs) Simpson.  He married Janet Hendricks on November 23, 1985, in Rushville, Illinois.  She survives.

Joe farmed in Schuyler County, operated a sawmill and worked as a carpenter.  In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting deer and coon.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; two daughters, Traci (Chris) Block of Heyworth, Illinois, Michelle (Mike) Post of Versailles, Illinois; three stepsons, Mike Houston of Branson, Missouri, Charles (Betsy) Hendricks of Sherman, Illinois, Mickey (Francis) Hendricks of Peoria, Illinois; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Dotzert and Marian Mellor both of Rushville, Illinois. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Simpson; brothers-in-law, Jerry Dotzert, and Jim Mellor; two stepdaughters, Terri and Jessica.
