Edward Huett, 72, of Mt. Sterling and formerly of Rushville, passed away at 2:40 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Mt. Sterling Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Sterling.
He was born on June 4, 1953, in Booneville, Indiana, the son of the late Millard Huett Jr. and his biological mother, Roberta (Fuller) Huett. He was lovingly raised by Vera Huett. Ed graduated from high school from V.I.T. in Table Grove. He married Carole Lynn Phillips on June 5, 1999, in Rushville, and she survives.
Ed spent many years as an over-the-road truck driver with BTI Special Commodities before retiring. Earlier in his career, he worked as a coal miner with Freeman United Coal Mine. A skilled woodworker, Ed enjoyed spending time in his shop creating with his hands. He also had a passion for collecting toy trucks. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 26 years, Carole of Mt. Sterling, Ed is survived by his daughter, Suann (Joshua) DeWitt of Oak Ridge, Missouri; two cherished grandchildren, Logan and Abigail DeWitt; his brother, Steve Huett of Mt. Sterling; a nephew, Kiser Huett; and two nieces, Mackenzie and Kutter Huett. He is also survived by two stepsons, Kevin and Phillip Wise of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Huett Jr. and Vera Huett, and by his sister, Jeanette Sutter.
Graveside services honoring Ed’s life will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Good Hope Cemetery in rural Rushville. Pastor Stacy Tomich will preside. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville. Those wishing to attend the graveside service may meet at the cemetery before 12:30 or may be arranged in the procession following the visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, who will lovingly share them in Ed’s memory with causes that honor his life and legacy.
